Our Music

Hello. My name is Jeffrey Cassano. I am twenty-seven years old, and have been leading music here at Abundant Life Bible Church for two years now. I love to play the guitar, I love to sing, and I love that the Lord is allowing me to do both of those things here at Abundant Life.

Someone once defined worship as, "Recognizing who we are, recognizing who God is, and then celebrating the difference". Worship is not singing, raising our hands, falling down, jumping up and down, or even standing in awed silence. These may all be actions motivated by true worship, but not one of these things in and of itself is worship.

We do not have our time of worship, followed by the offering, preaching, and time of fellowship. On the contrary, we have our time of worship which consists of preaching, giving, praying, fellowship, as well as singing.

So what's the point? The point is that we are called to worship God with our lives. Our worship cannot be limited to one action, or one 'holy' time in the week. It must become a lifestyle, and an outflow of a better understanding of who God is, compared to who we are.

As most things in life, this is easier said than done. We are so busy with things that seem to be so important. So how in the world could we spend more time worshipping our Savior who has given us hope and meaning in this life? It is much easier to have our singy-song time, feel like we've worshipped, and then move on with our week, feeling pretty good about what we have done. While, in fact, we should be letting God show us what He has done, and let that determine how we live and worship.

Quite practically, we must let everything we do become our worship to the Lord; our work, our play, our hobbies, our study, and our time of relaxation. He demands and deserves glory, and the understanding of how to offer Him that which He deserves in all we do, is what we must continually strive to grasp.
