Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.
— Ephesians 5:1-2

My heart is burdened.  This country that we are blessed to be a part of is so very divided and this has carried over to the church.  Christians are cutting each other down because they do not understand each other's reasoning behind why they voted as they did.  What does it mean to walk in the way of love in the aftermath of this election?  We are told here to own our identity as children who are loved by God, to love and to give ourselves up just as Christ did for us.  That means that we set aside ourselves, our agendas and our feelings to accept someone who may see things differently than we do.  We do not need to agree, make people agree with us or even understand each other to love one another.  In the proceeding verse, we are commanded to be kind, tender hearted and forgiving.  As your pastor, I want to encourage us to love in big ways, be kind and seek unity as a church in the name of Jesus.

This Sunday is Shoebox Sunday at ALBC.  Operation Christmas Child shares God's love all over the world with children who would not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas.  Bring your filled shoeboxes to ALBC this Sunday!  You can pay for the shipping of them and track them to find out where your box goes here:

Come ready to worship our King and Savior this Sunday!  I look forward to being together!
