ALBC Newsletter

Dear Abundant Life,

We hope this email finds you well and looking forward to the festivities of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus! There is no greater gift than the gift of Jesus’ birth, and the free gift of Salvation that we share through His life, death and resurrection!

Pastoral Candidate Update

We are happy to report that all the members of the Pastoral Search team and the Elder team met with our lead candidate over this past weekend. We spent Friday night with him and his family getting to know them in a relaxed setting and then spent 5+ hours with them on Saturday for an extended, in-depth interview.

Following these meetings, both teams were very comfortable in continuing the interview process with this candidate, and he has expressed the desire to move forward with the vetting process as well.

Christmas Services / Covenant Sunday

Our services on 12/23 at 9am and 12/24 at 6pm are great opportunities to invite friends, family and neighbors to come and celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We will also be hearing a live, in-person update from the Mullens family who will be home from the UK to celebrate Christmas with their families. We cannot wait to see them and hear what the Lord is doing through their new ministry across the pond!

The Christmas Eve service will be lead by Pastor Curtis from Providence along with members of PCB’s and ALBC’s worship teams. Children from ALBC will be singing a special song as well.

On Sunday 12/30 we will be having the first of two Covenant Membership Sundays where we highlight the importance and the commitment of what it means to be a core member at ALBC.

2019 Small Group Sign-Up

This coming Sunday marks the first day you can sign up for our first semester of 2019 small groups!

These January through March group study’s will match our Sunday morning series on Spiritual Gifts, giving us all a chance to dive deeper into what the Lord has for us on Sunday mornings. Our reason for this study is to move forward together as we prepare as a congregation to apply our gifts to reach others more effectively.

The regular small group format will change slightly with all small groups meeting twice per month, once in homes throughout our communities and the second time at Providence Church where we will meet together and then break into our separate small groups for deeper study.

We’d love to see 100% participation from everyone at ALBC so we can work together to be better equipped to use our gifts to serve our Lord and our community.

If you are interested in hosting or leading a small group, contact Gary Rader, our small group ministry leader. Childcare will be offered in both the home groups and when we met at Providence.

Revised Statement on Sexual Ethics

Some have asked why we did not have the service where we presented our revised statement on Sexual Ethics (as was announced a couple weeks ago). The reason is we felt it was best to wait on that topic and use our December services to focus on celebrating Christmas and the birth of Jesus. We will present the revised statement at our January core meeting.

Thanks for reading! If you have any questions, comments, or prayer requests, please email the elder team at

Luke 1:68-70

Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.
