ALBC Newsletter

Dear Abundant Life,

We hope this email finds you well and looking forward to the festivities of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus! There is no greater gift than the gift of Jesus’ birth, and the free gift of Salvation that we share through His life, death and resurrection!

Pastoral Candidate Update

We are happy to report that all the members of the Pastoral Search team and the Elder team met with our lead candidate over this past weekend. We spent Friday night with him and his family getting to know them in a relaxed setting and then spent 5+ hours with them on Saturday for an extended, in-depth interview.

Following these meetings, both teams were very comfortable in continuing the interview process with this candidate, and he has expressed the desire to move forward with the vetting process as well.

Christmas Services / Covenant Sunday

Our services on 12/23 at 9am and 12/24 at 6pm are great opportunities to invite friends, family and neighbors to come and celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We will also be hearing a live, in-person update from the Mullens family who will be home from the UK to celebrate Christmas with their families. We cannot wait to see them and hear what the Lord is doing through their new ministry across the pond!

The Christmas Eve service will be lead by Pastor Curtis from Providence along with members of PCB’s and ALBC’s worship teams. Children from ALBC will be singing a special song as well.

On Sunday 12/30 we will be having the first of two Covenant Membership Sundays where we highlight the importance and the commitment of what it means to be a core member at ALBC.

2019 Small Group Sign-Up

This coming Sunday marks the first day you can sign up for our first semester of 2019 small groups!

These January through March group study’s will match our Sunday morning series on Spiritual Gifts, giving us all a chance to dive deeper into what the Lord has for us on Sunday mornings. Our reason for this study is to move forward together as we prepare as a congregation to apply our gifts to reach others more effectively.

The regular small group format will change slightly with all small groups meeting twice per month, once in homes throughout our communities and the second time at Providence Church where we will meet together and then break into our separate small groups for deeper study.

We’d love to see 100% participation from everyone at ALBC so we can work together to be better equipped to use our gifts to serve our Lord and our community.

If you are interested in hosting or leading a small group, contact Gary Rader, our small group ministry leader. Childcare will be offered in both the home groups and when we met at Providence.

Revised Statement on Sexual Ethics

Some have asked why we did not have the service where we presented our revised statement on Sexual Ethics (as was announced a couple weeks ago). The reason is we felt it was best to wait on that topic and use our December services to focus on celebrating Christmas and the birth of Jesus. We will present the revised statement at our January core meeting.

Thanks for reading! If you have any questions, comments, or prayer requests, please email the elder team at elders@engagelife.org

Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.

2018-12-13 Update

Dear Abundant Life,

Here are some important updates we want to make sure you are aware of.

New 2019 Elder

As Jordan Craft announced in a recent Sunday service, we are happy to report that Gary Rader has been unanimously confirmed as the new elder in 2019.

Gary brings a wealth of leadership experience, a passion for outreach, and a deep love of the Lord and ALBC to the elder board. We want to thank him for his continued service as our Small Groups leader, Pastoral Search Team member, and special speaker. Gary will be confirmed through prayer during an upcoming service.

We also want to thank Matt Erdman and Jordan Craft for their three years of service. Both men will be rotating off the board at the end of December.

2019 Small Group Update

We are very excited about the winter small group semester and the new format that we will employ during this semester.   The winter small group semester runs from January through March.  All small groups will meet twice monthly, once in a home and a second time when all the small groups will come together at Providence Church where we will meet together and then break into our separate small groups.  All the small groups will study the same topic, spiritual gifts, which will align with the Sunday morning message.

We are really encouraging everyone’s participation in a small group as they are intended to equip us to use our gifts to serve our Lord and our community.  Childcare will be offered in both the home groups and when we met at Providence.   Sign-up sheets for the small groups are going out this week.

If you are interested in hosting or leading a small group, contact Gary Rader, our small group ministry leader.

Christmas Services

Our services on 12/23 at 9am and 12/24 at 6pm are great opportunities to invite friends, family and neighbors to come and celebrate the birth of Jesus. This Sunday (12/16) the kids will be celebrating with a Birthday Party for Jesus so that everyone can enjoy the fun in case they are traveling to visit family for Christmas.  The children will also be singing the Christmas song "Behold" in our worship time - you won't want to miss it!

Thanks for your prayers! As always, if you have any questions, comments, or prayer requests, please email the elder team at elders@engagelife.org

ALBC Newsletter

Dear ALBC,

We want to thank Gary Rader for his message of the hope we have in Jesus! If you missed it, you will definitely want to give it a listen this week via our website!

As Gary said, the same God that led Abraham and Paul is the same God guiding Abundant Life! We are excited to share the progress of the search team with you…

Pastoral Search Update

The pastoral search team has been working hard to discern the best candidate for our next Lead Pastor. They started with over 100 resumes, narrowed it down to 46 after a first round of vetting, and were hoping to narrow the 46 down to less than 10 during their last meeting.

We are happy to report the Lord made it very clear that we had a consensus to extend a more detailed application to eight men. We asked these men to respond with the filled out application and sermon samples.

The pastoral team is now processing these applications, listening to lots of sermons, and meeting next week to prayerfully decide with which of the eight the Lord would have us to continue down this road.

Please be praying along with us for this process. It has been excited to see the Lord at work, and we know that He will continue to be faithful!

Sunday’s 11/4 Guest Speaker

We have had a change in guest speakers for this Sunday. We are excited to welcome Glenn Eshelman, Founder of Sight & Sound theatres. He is an ordained minister, evangelist, and creative photographer and painter. He and his wife Shirley have seen the faithfulness of God through hard times. Glenn’s theme of the morning sermon will be from I Thessalonians. We are looking forward to having him share with us this Sunday!

Rescheduled Fall Work Day 11/3

Due to the rain this past weekend, our Fall Work Day will now be this Saturday morning, November 3rd lead by Josh Bruton. We’ll meet at 9:00am to help around the building with some clean-up and maintenance work. This is a great way to show our appreciation to our friends and hosts at Providence COB! Please let Josh know if you will be able to attend.

Cold Brew Coffee Event this Thursday 11/1 Evening in Phoenixville

ALBC's own Dom Presutti, along with his sister Andrea, have officially launched their mobile cold brew coffee business, Celebrant Coffee. They are so excited to share this news with the church family as many of you were among the first to taste test their coffee. Their first event is this coming Thursday evening (11/1) at the Phoenixville Harvest Festival Night Market. Stop by their tent to support them in downtown Phoenixville from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. You can also check out their website and follow them on Instagram.

ALBC Newsletter

Dear ALBC,

Thank you to all who are involved with our small groups and our new men’s and women’s ministries. If you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars and sign-up in the lobby for upcoming events like the Men’s bowling night and the Women’s Free Fun Fall Fellowship Feast. These are both great ways to connect with the community at Abundant Life!

Please continue to be in prayer for Pastoral Search Team as they work through the 100+ resumes we have received to date! Let’s continue to be in prayer for our future pastor as well. As a church, we will come together to pray for this process Sunday night Oct 21 at 6:30pm.

Here is the upcoming preaching schedule:

10/7- Courage Dhliwayo

10/14- Keith Yoder

10/21-Gus Jones*

10/28-Gary Radar

11/4- Don and Cindy Riker**

11/11- Tim Doering

11/18- Thanksgiving Sunday

* Gus Jones retired from his career as an engineer, and now devotes himself to personal ministry, encouragement, and empowering others to develop their gifts. He is particularly graced by the Lord to connect with people and lovingly help them to open up their hearts. After prayer and loving attention, these persons are encouraged and drawn closer to God. Gus quickly engages them to get involved in helping others. For this reason, we have invited him to inspire and equip us in how to create opportunities to share the gospel in daily life situations.  Gus and his wife, Mel, reside near Lancaster.

** Don and Cindy Riker have faced several difficult hardships including a very painful illness that has afflicted Don for several years. Don teaches with simple, yet fresh, wisdom from the scriptures.  He intercedes with profound insight. Cindy’s blog reflects the gentle and compassionate heart by which she serves others. Their story in the context of the Word of God imparts courage, faith, and perseverance.

ALBC Newsletter

Hello Abundant Life!

It’s hard to believe that the summer is drawing to a close. As this season ends, we are excited to be looking forward to the new things God has for Abundant Life. We are happy to share some of these items with you now!

Sunday Morning

This Sunday morning we will be honoring the ALBC teachers and students who are going back to school in the coming days. We are looking forward to this elder-lead time of prayer.

This Sunday also marks the beginning of a new sermon series (more on that below).

Be sure to sign up for a Small Group this Sunday in the lobby. There are several great groups to choose from. Small Groups are the foundation for growth and community in our church. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to be involved this Fall!

Also, be sure to welcome the Providence congregation to our service this Sunday. They were without their worship leader this week and canceled their service…We are happy to welcome them to ours! Let’s make them feel welcome while continuing to express our thankfulness for their generosity towards ALBC.

Sunday Evening

Please be sure to join us at 6:30pm Sunday night for our next Informational / Prayer Meeting. During this hour-long event, a member of the Pastoral Search Team will be sharing the completed Congregational and Pastor profiles as well as giving an update on the overall search process. As an elder board we are very excited to be reaching this next stage in being lead by the Lord to our next Pastor. You will not want to miss this update!

After the update we will spend time in focused prayer for Abundant Life, for the ongoing search process, and for our next pastor.

If you need childcare for this service, please be sure to sign up in the lobby Sunday morning.

Upcoming Sermon Series

This Sunday also marks the beginning of a new series of sermons called “From Conflict to Peace”.

Everyone battles with conflict within their relationships, whether it's with a spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, family member, coworker, neighbor, or complete stranger. The great news is that God has given us Biblical instructions for how to approach conflict with wisdom, peace and love. This series will use God's Word to equip us all with tools on how to navigate the rough waters of conflict and establish a peacemaker mentality.

Pastor Keith will be bringing the first message this Sunday (8/26) followed by Dom Presutti on 9/2, Pastor Keith on 9/9 (we will take Communion as well on this Sunday), and the series will be concluded by Courage Dhliwayo on 9/16.

Elder Nominations

Don’t forget, we are collecting prospective elder nominations during the month of August. Please email your nominees to elders@engagelife.org.
